In 2024, CAEDMI Alpha Institute of Technology (AIT) partnered with Miami University, Ohio, to launch the Clean Town Project, aimed at reducing air pollution in Bishkek. A 2022 UNDP report linked 12-13% of Kyrgyzstan’s annual deaths to air pollution, with household heating as a primary wintertime source.
The project centers around the development of an innovative Sustainable Chimney ActiveAir Filter designed specifically for the local context. Inspired by advanced technologies like smoke and electrostatic precipitators, the prototype will address emissions from household chimneys—common in Kyrgyzstan’s residential areas. This eco-friendly filter aims to be affordable, self-powered or renewable-energy-compatible, and effective in reducing harmful emissions. The team’s original design prioritizes practicality and avoids replication of existing technologies, ensuring it meets local needs.
As we advance toward cleaner air and sustainable living in Kyrgyzstan, CAEDMI AIT welcomes collaboration from third-party partners to help bring this vision to life for our community. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out to us at info@caedmi.com.
